The little boat tipped beneath Bonny’s weight, and she lost her balance completely. And with a sharp cry, she tumbled headfirst over the side of the boat.
“Bonny!” William screamed, lunging toward her, but he was too late to help. She hit the cold water with a splash and vanished beneath the surface.
