By mid-morning the crowd had swollen into something the town had never seen before. Tourists poured out of the guesthouses and cafes, locals abandoned their shops, and the entire dock filled with people packed shoulder to shoulder.
They all stared out at the same thing, that vast and silent grid stretching along their shore.
