The light from the surface had almost disappeared now, and the guides had to switch on their dive lights from this point forward.
Two narrow beams cut through the gloom ahead, catching the creature’s strange shimmering form. Still, the seafloor was nowhere in sight below them. Whatever waited down here, it lay very deep.
