Luke’s heart began to beat faster as his mind pieced together the animal that belonged to those eyes. This was no squirrel or fox hiding in the brush behind him.
It was a bobcat, and it was clearly following him. Luke knew this because he studied the safety pamphlet back at the forest checkpoint where his hike started.
