The boat drifted slowly, with no sign of anyone moving on its deck. It rocked gently with the waves, silent and seemingly completely abandoned.
The captain ordered the cutter to pull alongside the strange little vessel. “Hail them,” he said. But no matter how they called out, nobody ever answered them back.
