The grainy footage rolled backward as Rosa leaned forward. She watched the empty enclosure at night and saw that the chimps were sleeping peacefully in their indoor quarters. Hours passed with nothing unusual happening at all. But then, just before the first light of dawn, something small and pale appeared at the very edge of the camera frame.
