At first glance, Captain Wilkins thought it might be some new kind of buoy. But the sphere was completely sealed, without hooks or ropes attached. There was no writing or signs marking its surface, only those odd red spots. The whole crew fell silent, exchanging puzzled looks. No one had seen anything like it before.
