They began hauling hay bales inside, straining under the weight. For two hours, they worked nonstop, stacking bales thick across the walls. Dust clung to their sweat-soaked shirts as they set up portable heaters.
Little by little, the air changed, warming steadily. Their breath no longer puffed white in the chill. The room was transforming into the incubator they desperately needed.
