“Hey!” Marcus shouted suddenly, stepping forward. “Why are you following this man? What do you want?” The figure did not answer. Instead it took a slow step backward, then another, never taking its hidden eyes off Bill. Then it turned and walked briskly away, disappearing around the corner before either man could think to give chase.
